This ain't yo mamma's Bridge class. The NEW Bridge program has transformed into a drop-in class! No more 6-week commitment – come whenever you can! But you won't wanna miss a single session as each week will explore fresh concepts, hot skills and drills, plus a turbo-charged approach to sculpt your finesse and flare on Learning to dance is like learning a language -- one you speak with your whole body. While the Beginner Class teaches you the "basic sentences" and "simple words," essential for West Coast Swing, the Bridge Class makes you fluent and fabulous! During the course of this progressive class, we will explore the subtler nuances of dance (think: grammar, sentence structure and even cultural norms of the language of West Coast Swing). In addition to the 1 hour class, registration also covers the weekly social dance/practice lab from 7:15 - 9ish pm. Novice dancers are encouraged to take the Basics Series at least one time before moving into the Bridge class. Students with a recommendation from a Westies instructor can join the Bridge series without the Basics as a prerequisite. You can also enroll in the Bridge Class PLUS an additional class (Basics or Beyond) to maximize your growth as a dancer. Come with a partner, or come by yourself -- since this is a social dance we rotate through partners while learning patterns and connection techniques. When you register you will be asked to indicate Lead, Follow, or a Lead-Follow couple. West Coast Swing is a dance where roles (lead or follow) are not tied to gender. Any human and lead. Any human can follow. As the name implies, a Lead will typically lead the patterns learned and a Follow will reciprocate. This dynamic can flip as skills advance the beyond the basics.
