West Coast Swing Basics
A 3-week fundamentals course
Service Description
Our foundational Basics course is now a focused 3-week program designed to get you swinging confidently in no time! Perfect for absolute beginners or anyone looking to refine their fundamentals. Classes are now a full hour long! In addition to the 1 hour class, registration also covers the weekly social dance/practice lab from 6:30 - 9ish pm. Come with a partner, or come by yourself -- since this is a social dance we rotate through partners while learning patterns and connection techniques. When you register you will be asked to indicate Lead, Follow, or a Lead-Follow couple. Please stick to this role for the duration of the 3-week course. West Coast Swing is a dance where roles (lead or follow) are not tied to gender. Any human and lead. Any human can follow. As the name implies, a Lead will typically lead the patterns learned and a Follow will reciprocate. This dynamic can flip as skills advance the beyond the basics. Price listed is per person. (Ask us about our student & military discounts! Email mail@westslopewesties.com.) Participants must be 18 or older. Parents seeking West Coast Swing instruction for younger teens are welcome to email us for our policies regarding younger teens. Registration is required. Sorry, drop-ins cannot be accommodated in this scaffolded curriculum.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation and refunds can be accommodated if requested at least 24-hours prior to the start of Class Series. Please email mail@westslopewesties.com with the name on the order and order number to request a cancellation and refund. Requests made after this threshold or after the start of the class or series cannot be accommodated. If you are unable to attend a Bridge Class or all three Beginner classes, we ask that you defer registration until your schedule can accommodate full participation. Because the Westies is a small crew of volunteers, we appreciate your understanding that we cannot “roll forward” your admission to a future series in the event that you are absent from class. Assumption of Risk I understand that participating in dance classes at West Slope Westies involves physical activity, which may include, but is not limited to, dancing, stretching, and other movements that carry inherent risks of injury. These risks may include, but are not limited to, muscle strains, sprains, bruises, fractures, or other physical injuries. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with participating in these dance classes. Release of Liability In consideration of being permitted to participate in dance events at West Slope Westies, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, and discharge West Slope Westies, its owners, instructors, employees, and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me while participating in dance classes or while on the premises where the classes are conducted. Physical Condition I certify that I am physically capable of participating in dance classes and have no medical conditions or impairments that would prevent safe participation. I agree to inform West Slope Westies of any physical limitations or medical conditions that may affect my ability to participate safely. Emergency Medical Treatment In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize West Slope Westies to secure medical treatment on my behalf, and I agree to assume responsibility for any associated costs. Acknowledgment I have read this waiver and release of liability, fully understand its terms, and sign it freely and voluntarily without any inducement. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a contract between myself and West Slope Westies.
