Beyond Basics: Level 1 turns fundamentals into a dance! Focus on pattern variations, smooth connection, and social skills. This series is designed for dancers who have completed our 4-week Basics course or have equivalent WCS experience. May Theme: Focus on Connection This month, we are moving beyond the basics to explore the intricate geometry of Closed Position, Wraps, Folds, and Slingshots. Key Areas of Focus Tighten the Basics: We’re starting from the very first beat. Master the Closed Position Starter Step to establish a rock-solid connection and consistent leverage before you even hit the slot. Explore Pattern Options: Dive into the mechanics of the Slingshot and learn to transition smoothly between closed-position wraps and open-slot flow. We will focus on maintaining a seamless connection even as the patterns become more compact. Add Your Own Flair: Discover styling options for both Leads and Follows. Learn how to personalize your movement with syncopated footwork and creative arm-work that maintains "the feel" without sacrificing the lead-follow connection. Your Series Includes: 5:45 PM – Open Floor: Get early access to the floor for self-guided practice. 6:30 PM – Level 1 Core Class: Our progressive 4-week themed curriculum. 7:30 PM – Social Dance: The best way to practice your new patterns in a fun, real-world setting! The Details: Pricing: Your $80 registration covers all four weeks of the series, including the practice hour and social dance. The Prerequisite: Dancers should be comfortable with the Sugar Push, Side Passes, and Whip. Lead, Follow, and Inclusivity: Roles are not tied to gender. When registering, please choose your primary role and stick to it for the duration of the 4-week course to help us maintain class balance. Flexible Attendance: While the 4-week series ($80) offers the best progression, single-night Level 1 Drop-ins ($25) are available for experienced dancers. No Partner Needed: We rotate partners during class to build social connection and better technique. The Fine Print: Participants must be 18+.
