Service Description

Level 1 turns fundamentals into a dance! Focus on elastic connection, listening to the music, and effortless partner conversation. This series is designed for dancers who have completed our 4-week Basics course or have equivalent WCS experience. Theme: This month, we are moving beyond mechanical footwork to explore what makes West Coast Swing truly feel like a conversation. Learn how to listen to the song, adapt your timing, and deepen partner connection to transform every pattern into a shared musical experience. Key Areas of Focus Dynamic Connection (Leverage & Compression): Master smooth weight transfer, continuous anchoring, and responsive resistance for effortless leading and following. Musical Phrasing & Breaks: Hear 32-count song structure, time breaks directly out of your anchors, and adapt footwork rhythms without breaking the slot. The Two-Way Conversation: Move past auto-pilot with techniques for leads to offer musical space and follows to contribute clean, responsive styling. Your Series Includes: 5:45 PM – Open Floor: Get early access to the floor for self-guided practice. 6:30 PM – Level 1 Core Class: Our progressive 4-week themed curriculum. 7:30 PM – Social Dance: The best way to practice your new patterns in a fun, real-world setting! The Details: Pricing: Your $60 registration covers all three weeks of the series, including the practice hour and social dance. The Prerequisite: Dancers should be comfortable with the Sugar Push, Side Passes, and Whip. Lead, Follow, and Inclusivity: Roles are not tied to gender. When registering, please choose your primary role and stick to it for the duration of the 3-week course to help us maintain class balance. Flexible Attendance: While the 3-week series ($30) offers the best progression, single-night Level 1 Drop-ins ($25) are available for experienced dancers. No Partner Needed: We rotate partners during class to build social connection and better technique. The Fine Print: Participants must be 18+. Please see our "No Roll-Forward" policy regarding absences. Discounts: Student and military discounts are available. Email mail@westslopewesties.com for your code before registering.
